A key milestone of Sadgamaya Institute was an event organised on 23 April 2023 named “Devadoothar”. It featured the Popular Playback singer Biju Narayanan singing to a live orchestra performed by Praveen Sadgamaya’s Students. A first-of-its-kind orchestra featuring an all-amateur ensemble of the Institute’s students playing to a professional Singer. Biju Narayanan himself expressed great amusement and excitement at being surrounded by some of the youngest artists, aged 5, and some of the senior students, aged 60, who were performing their debut stage show alongside him.
The mega event was organised at the Women’s College of Technology in Al Qusais, attended by a full crowd of Parents and well-wishers. The gala featured some of Biju Narayanan’s all-time hit Malayalam songs, as well as popular Hindi songs. The students had the opportunity to identify the various ragas and coordinate them throughout the songs in the correct order of scales, chords, links, counters, intro music, background music, and adlib with perfect timing. This gave the students of Sadgamaya Institute an experience in the realm of professional music.
